The STRC maintains print and electronic scientific and technical resources that meet the information needs of scientists of the research centre. All the libraries of the Directorate come under STRC. STRC selects, acquires and disseminates the relevant scientific resources to the scientists of the Directorate. The STRC plays a vital role in acquisition, preservation and dissemination of knowledge in all fields of Earth Sciences and related fields.

The Scientific and Technical Resource Centre (STRC) has good collection of Books, Journals, Bound volumes, Maps, and CD-ROMs on Earth Sciences and related disciplines.

The STRCs has over 62000 volumes of books and bound journals. A number of books and other publications are also received on complimentary basis. It has a special collection of publications of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, the Geological Survey of India, Geological Society of India and in-house journal / publications like Exploration and Research for Atomic Minerals (EARFAM) and Journal of Atomic Minerals Science (JOAMS) which are most important reference publications for the Scientists of the Directorate.

The Collection comprises of publications primarily on:

⇨Applied Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, General Geology, Economic Geology

      ⇨Petrology, Mineral Technology, Mining

      ⇨Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Technology

      ⇨Mineralogy, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry

      ⇨Electronics and Instrumentation

      ⇨Engineering, Computer Sciences

⇨Special publications of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Geological Survey of India (GSI) and Geological Society of India.

The journal subscriptions include some of the best international journals in Earth Sciences, and most of the Earth Science journals published in India. The Library also subscribes to ScienceDirect online database from Elsevier and GeoScienceWorld+ GeoRef online earth Sciences database also other access facilities like open access journal databases and individual institutional publications are made available. Science Direct provides access to the full text of select journals and contents and abstracts of papers published in thousands of foreign journals of Elsevier Science. Access is also provided to the full text of many of journals not only in Earth Sciences but also Physical and Chemical Sciences in open access.

The General Library was established in 2003-04 for catering to the information needs on general topics for both the scientific and non-scientific cadre of AMD. It has a very good collection of General Library which houses reference books such as encyclopedias, yearbooks, Human Resource Development, general subjects, inspirational as well as books in Hindi and also subscriptions to leading magazines in English and Hindi.

The STRC is fulfilling the requirements of not only personnel working in the Headquarters of AMD located in Hyderabad, but also all seven Regional Centers of AMD (NR, SR, WR, ER, NER, CR, SCR) and two sectional centres located in various parts of the country.

Selective Information Dissemination (SID):A separate section has been established to provide Selective Information Dissemination (SID) from the resources available in the library. The publications received in the library are browsed regularly and information pertaining to the exploration activities of the Directorate are made available to the Scientists of AMD through the Intranet periodically.

This is a special feature of STRC where knowledge is disseminated through electronic media to all the scientists by selection of relevant research articles for various publications in different disciplines. On demand research articles are also provided to scientific community

e-Granthalaya (Library Management Software):A database has been created using the e-Granthalaya (Library Management Software) and provides information regarding resources of the STRC. The database is accessible through internet and also through OPACS (Online Public Access Catalogue Service) through internet.

Plagiarism software: Using plagiarism software helps to create and maintain a high standard amongst research scientists for their research publications. Being able to check text for originality and protect it against potential plagiarism is a key for successful research document. Having a plagiarism detection software at an institution ensures that research standards and integrity are taken seriously and that academicly creative new ideas are encouraged and enabled. It also ensures research papers fit for being published, further adding credibility to the level of research.
