73rd Independence Day was celebrated on August 15, 2019 at AMD Headquarters and Seven Regional Centres along with field areas with gaiety and enthusiasm. On this occasion, Shri M.B. Verma, Director, AMD unfurled the National Flag at AMD Headquarters, Hyderabad and addressed the gathering of employees and their family members. In his speech, Director, AMD specially highlighted the supreme sacrifices of our freedom fighters in achieving the freedom.
Shri Verma informed that the country’s uranium resources have attained over three lakh tonnes U3O8 and Beach Sand Minerals nearly 1,200 million tonnes. He also stated that apart from the established major uranium deposits, exploration efforts of AMD has led in achieving sizeable deposits in Kudada, Jharkhand; Kanchankayi – Suldhal, Karnataka and Naktu, Uttar Pradesh. He congratulated each one of the AMD employees for their unstinted efforts in achieving the organisational goals such as field surveys, drilling, laboratory analysis, publication, public awareness and all exploration activities. He also mentioned about the addition of infrastructure facilities in Bengaluru, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam and especially establishment of Core library at Cherlapally as a National Facility. A special reference about the observance of Swachh Bharat activities in AMD was appreciated. He urged to keep moving to face new challenges in coming days for taking the organisation to new heights.
As a part of the celebrations, a vibrant and colourful event was organised by the AMD Recreation Club in association with the members of the AMD Ladies’ Club, in which employees and their children actively participated in various events. In addition, a skit programme was organised by the new batch of AMD Training School, which was well received by one and all. Best performers of various sport events and cultural activities received prizes for their accomplishments. At the end , Shri Verma extended his warm appreciation and gratitude to all in making the event a grand success. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
